Last night on Smackdown, several NXT Superstars joined Triple H and Shawn Michaels in an invasion of Friday Night Smackdown.
Tommaso Ciampa, Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox and Adam Cole all wrestled on the show, with Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Matt Riddle and Keith Lee also appearing on the broadcast.
The first match of the night saw Bayley defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross. After Bayley pinned for the Women’s Tag Team Champion, Shayna Baszler attacked both her and Sasha Banks.
This was the first appearance from an NXT Superstar of the night. Many have speculated that we are building to a Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Shayna Baszler match at Survivor Series.
It is being reported by John Pollock that the NXT flight landed in Buffalo, New York just before 8pm, meaning the wrestlers had to taken to the building by police to make sure they made it on time.
Pollock notes that one of his sources said WWE was cutting it fine to have Baszler appear relatively early on in the show.
Was told the NXT charter didn't land until 7:55 pm and they had a police escort to get them to the building.
One person I spoke with added they could not have cut it any closer to get everyone in place for the third segment when Shayna Baszler made her appearance.
