Matt Hardy has barely been seen in WWE since brother Jeff suffered a leg injury in April shortly after the pair had won the SmackDown tag titles.
Since then, Jeff’s antics outside the ring seem to have delayed any kind of planned return, but it looks like Matt may have plans for not just a singles return, but a return to an old gimmick.
In the latest episode of his new YouTube series “#FreeTheDelete”, Matt returns to his old Broken gimmick he used in Impact, which would go on to become the “Woken” gimmick in WWE.
The video description reads:
In the second EVAH episode of “FREE THE DELETE”, Matt is forced to look at the man in the mirror as his quest to recapture his #BROKENBrilliance intensifies. As Matt trains the next generation of Hardys, the Baby Hardy Boyz, he sees a vision of #BROKENBrilliance. When another one of the #7Deities come to Matt, he learns he must be ATONED to #FreeTheDELETE and PROCURE his true DESTINY.
Back in his Impact days, Hardy used videos such as this to get the character over, so could this be the start of a WWE run with the gimmick?
It is also possible that Matt is preparing for life outside of WWE, as his contract with the company is reportedly due to expire in early 2020.
