An AEW star is not expected back in action “any time soon” following a significant recent injury.
As was unfortunately reported earlier this week following his IWGP Heavyweight Championship match with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite (April 24), Powerhouse Hobbs has indeed suffered an injury to his knee – and a “significant” one at that.
Fightful Select have followed up on Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer’s initial report, by confirming the injury to have occurred adding that Hobbs is not expected back in action “any time soon” as a result.
As was detailed in Alvarez’s initial report, the match between Hobbs and Moxley on Dynamite was originally set to go longer than it ended up being.
However, when Hobbs injured his knee the finish was pushed forward and Moxley secured the win via a rear-naked choke.
After the bell Hobbs’ Don Callis Family stablemate Konosuke Takeshita stood on the ramp and insinuated that he would be the next challenger for Moxley’s newly won title.
WrestleTalk would like to extend our well-wishes to Powerhouse Hobbs in his recovery.
