Archer had perhaps the best year of his career in 2019. Competing in the G1 Climax tournament, he had multiple blow-away performances including the best match of his career against Will Ospreay. He followed that up by winning the IWGP United States Championship at King of Pro-Wrestling.
Since losing the title to Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 14, Archer was rumoured to be heading to AEW. Jim Ross commented that the promotion was looking to sign “athletic, big men” and now they have.
At a billed height of 6’8, Lance Archer is one of the largest men on the AEW roster. He brings an attitude and a danger factor unlike anyone in the promotion.
It remains to be seen what Archer will do when he debuts but it can be expected that he will make an immediate impact.
