A recently released WWE star has criticised the company for playing out the re-signing of Drake Maverick on TV, which went down on NXT last night.
Lio Rush was one of the several names released by WWE alongside Maverick on April 15, and he’s taken to social media to express his feelings on the situation.
Rush posted the following as three seperate tweets:
Man….Are they going to hire everyone back then? Kind of a slap in the face to use this as a shoot work. But i guess I’m not surprised. Super happy for anyone getting there job back. But damn, real trauma and a lot of others were apart of this.
I wish that i was still a child just staring at the bright lights on the TV screen being a fan. Instead of being so self aware of corporate
Literally making a mockery of legitimate firings.
This has been a hotly debated topic. While many are happy to see Maverick get his job back – which he did legitimately lose like the others who were let go – some have criticised it and called it out as being insensitive to have played it out on TV.
However, this just goes to show that the wrestling business can often be a cut-throat one whether you like it or not. It’s undeniable that Maverick’s story on NXT the past few weeks has captivated viewers and he’s absolutely proven that he deserved to be rehired..
