Earlier this week, WWE made the shocking announcement that in order to “streamline the creative process”, Bruce Prichard had been put in charge of Raw. This came after he took over control of SmackDown from Eric Bischoff last year.
Paul Heyman, who had been Raw’s Executive Director for just under a year, will now solely be focusing his time on being an in-ring performer, and this change is said to have worried a portion of the Raw roster.
Under Paul Heyman, we saw young stars like Aleister Black, Austin Theory, Murphy, Andrade, Angel Garza, Apollo Crews, Humberto Carrillo, Ricochet and even Drew McIntyre given opportunities that they wouldn’t have received under McMahon or Prichard.
According to various news sites, and even WrestleTalk, several younger Raw stars are subsequently worried about how their position on the card will be impacted by the creative change.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that several WWE stars on the Raw brand are now worried about their pushes following Heyman’s dismissal. This has been corroborated by Fightful Select who are reporting that the younger talent were disappointed by Heyman’s firing:
“Younger wrestlers we’ve spoken to were particularly disappointed, as Heyman was well known for wanting new blood on his shows.”
WrestleTalk’s own Louis Dangoor also confirmed these reports, tweeting that the younger Raw stars that he spoke to following the news were gutted about the dismissal and were worried about their positions on the card.
