Ever since AEW was founded as a wrestling promotion, fans have been asking for a video game to be created.
Executive Vice President Kenny Omega is well-known for being a huge video game fan, and he has teased in the past that a game was being planned.
Now however, we know that a game is in the production stage, as referee Aubrey Edwards has said as much during an interview with Chris Jericho.
Appearing on the Talk is Jericho podcast, Aubrey said:
“I’m working on the AEW video game. I can’t actually talk too much about it. I don’t know what I can say. I mean, we’re very, very early on, there’s a lot of things that we’re talking about. I talk to Kenny a lot about what he wants out of it, but it’s definitely a ways out. I’m not gonna put a number on it because I don’t want the internet to get mad at me but…”
Before becoming a full-time referee, Aubrey was a game developer, so she is personally working on the game, which is pretty cool if you ask me.
Games take a long time to develop, and as AEW will be wanting to avoid replicating the truly awful WWE 2K20, they’ll definitely be taking their sweet time to make sure it’s free from glitches.
