Over the last few months, we have seen the likes of Riddick Moss, Sami Zayn and even Roman Reigns refuse to work for WWE during the Coronavirus pandemic.
It is believed that WWE initially said to all of their talent at the beginning of the crisis that they understood if they didn’t want to travel at work over fears of catching and spreading the disease.
However, some have speculated that WWE may be freezing the contracts of those who refuse to work during the pandemic. They usually do this for people who are out of action for long periods of time.
Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has said that WWE will “absolutely” freeze the contracts of some of the people who aren’t working at this current time;
“With Kevin Owens it’s only been a couple of weeks… so I guess it’s not. But with Sami Zayn it probably will be. If it’s Roman Reigns, they may not want to piss him off, and he isn’t going anywhere anyway. He is one guy who is not going to go anywhere. But with some guys absolutely they will freeze them [their contracts]”
It is interesting to consider that Meltzer noted that WWE may not want to freeze Roman Reigns’ contract over fears of annoying him. However, it’s also likely because they don’t worry about Roman jumping ship to AEW.
