Last week’s SmackDown had a fantastic main event between Matt Riddle and AJ Styles for the Intercontinental Championship. While Riddle might not have won the match, Styles certainly gave him a good portion of it.
Over the weekend, the overnight viewership for the show was released, coming in at 1.893 million viewers. That was down from the 1.905 million people that tuned in to watch SmackDown the week prior.
Well, it appears as if that overnight viewership was slightly off, as ShowBuzz Daily is reporting that last week’s SmackDown actually brought in an average 1.912 million viewers, which is 19,000 more than the overnight viewership suggested.
This means that while it was initially feared that viewership for SmackDown had dropped, last week’s show actually brought in an average of 7,000 more viewers than the week prior.
WWE is promoting the Bar Fight between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus, which was originally set for Extreme Rules, for this week’s SmackDown. It is believed that this is a way of trying to boost ratings for the show.
