Many fans have joked that in the wake of falling ratings, it is only a matter of time before WWE tries to bring in the likes of Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin for appearances on Raw and SmackDown.
Well it seems like that joke may be more like a reality, as it is being reported that WWE is planning on honouring a Hall of Famer in the coming weeks, and that will involve an appearance on TV.
Taking to Twitter, reliable source WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE has plans to honour the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin in the near future. They also note that he will return to TV when crowds are back.
“WWE has plans to honor Stone Cold Steve Austin in a similar way to the 25th anniversary celebration for Triple H that has been ongoing with a slew of new merchandise as well as a live appearance once audiences return.”
As WrestleVotes notes, WWE honoured the 25-year career of Triple H a few months ago on SmackDown, something similar for his former rival, Stone Cold Steve Austin, over the coming weeks/months.
There is no word on when exactly WWE is planning to have Austin return to TV, but the tweet certainly implies that it won’t be until WWE has been given the green-light to allow fans to return to shows.
