The Young Bucks recently appeared on Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson’s Talk’ N Shop podcast where the spoke about the original plans The Elite had for the first episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT last year.
We already know how close Gallows and Anderson were to leaving WWE for AEW, but The Young Bucks heavily suggested on the podcast that they were also close to bringing in a huge WWE star into the promotion.
When speaking about the plans that The Elite had for Gallows and Anderson in AEW, Matt Jackson noted that The Good Brothers would have debuted with another former Bullet Club member. Many believe would have been AJ Styles:
“People don’t realize that when we were pitching to have you guys come in, it wasn’t just going to be the two of you, it was going to be another person who I won’t name, but another Bullet Club person who you may not want to talk about.”
AEMatt Jackson then went on to explain that the trio would have debuted on the first episode of Dynamite, which was actually supposed to take place at the historic Madison Square Garden venue. He also explained the proper plan for the debut:
“When we were originally going to do Dynamite, we were going to debut at Madison Square Garden. After the match, three of you, not just the two of you, the three of you were going to jump the guardrail and we were going to have like a Bullet Club reunion. We were gonna throw up the too sweet and then the three of you were going to jump us and make us bloody and destroy us and then we were going to be off to the races. And it obviously didn’t work out. I remember the first guy in this conversation we’re talking about right now, he buzzed us and he’s like ‘I just got too good of an offer, and I would have never got the offer without your guys offer, so I just wanted to say thank you.’”
While it wasn’t explicitly confirmed, it has been rumoured and speculated that Matt Jackson is speaking about AJ Styles as the third member of the faction. This was intensifed when he kept saying “freakin'”, something that AJ often says so he doesn’t curse.
AJ Styles signed a massive five-year deal with WWE in March 2019. At this point, AEW started thinking of new plans for the Good Brothers, which involved them being part of the Inner Circle faction.
