Backstage News On ‘Shocking’ AEW Full Gear Ticket Sales

Some backstage news has come to light regarding ticket sales for the upcoming November 7 AEW Full Gear pay-per-view next weekend.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that, as of Saturday evening, there were still 84 tickets left to be sold, which he referred to as “shocking” from an AEW standpoint.

The 84 remaining is out of the 925 tickets that were put on sale for the event this past Thursday. The 925 is obviously a lot less than the 5,500 capacity of the venue because of COVID-19 distancing restrictions.

Typically, before the pandemic, tickets for AEW pay-per-views sold out within hours – and sometimes even minutes – of being available. Meltzer said that under ‘normal’ circumstances this card would have sold out 12,000 tickets easily.

Meltzer suggested the reason for ticket sales being so low is that the Jacksonville market is burnt out because AEW has been running shows at Daily’s Place pretty much every week for several months now.

Of course, minimal fans are going to be travelling in due to COVID-19, and fans have to be seated in pods with either immediate family members or people they’re comfortable being in close proximity with.

Despite all this, there’s no denying Full Gear has one of the most impressive AEW cards to date, boasting MJF vs Chris Jericho, FTR vs Young Bucks, Adam Page vs Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley defending the World Title against Eddie Kingston in an ‘I Quit’ match, and several other exciting matchups.
