A Christmas wish has been granted for Big E as he will be getting a title shot this Friday on SmackDown. This couldn’t be more opposite for Sami Zayn.
It was announced during tonight’s WWE TLC pay per view that Big E and Zayn would battle over the Intercontinental Championship on this week’s Smackdown. This comes after Big E pinned Zayn in an eight-man tag team match on the kickoff show.
Big E got the win with the Big Ending but that wasn’t their final interaction of the night. Later in the show, Zayn was angry about his backstage tirade being leaked. In his rage, he accused Big E and said Big E had been treading water as a singles wrestler. Big E was not pleased, telling Zayn to be careful.
A short time later, the title match was officially announced. If Big E is able to capture the title, it will mark his first reign with the belt since 2014. To date, his first Intercontinental Championship reign is his only main roster singles title reign.
Zayn has been champion officially since winning a Triple Threat ladder match at Clash of Champions. He had been champion earlier in the year but was stripped of the title when he went home during lockdown.
