It seems that Royal Rumble winner Edge is doing the rounds this week, as fresh off a match with Randy Orton on Raw, the Rated R Superstar has teased showing up on tomorrow’s NXT.
Taking to Twitter, Edge tweeted: “In Orlando to visit my wife. Then I had a thought, @WWENXT needs to get #RatedR“
This is presumably being done to tease that Edge could challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship, despite reports that the current plan is for Edge to challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
That’s the most innocent explanation anyway, although there’s obviously the ratings boost an Edge appearance would presumably give to NXT in the ongoing “Wednesday Night War” with AEW Dynamite. His wife, Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, is a commentator on Wednesday nights.
While a lot of fans were thrilled to see Edge win the Rumble, there has been a vocal portion of fans who are very against the legend winning the match, given that he is now 46 and perhaps didn’t need to win the match to challenge for a title given how over he is.
Since he won, it’s been revealed that Edge himself pitched the idea of him winning, and while that may seem a bit narcissistic, I would just like to say, at least it wasn’t Brock.
