One of the big issues that fans seem to have with the current WWE product is the promotion’s handling of the tag division, and the frustrations are seemingly also shared by those employed by WWE.
Speaking on the After The Bell podcast, SmackDown commentator Corey Graves said that the lack of “legitimate” teams in the women’s tag division right now is becoming a real issue for WWE:
“I feel like the lack of legitimate tag teams is what’s killing that division. You have people that show up randomly that want a match, and now they are a team”.
This was evidenced on Monday’s episode of Raw when Lana and Naomi earned a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championship in their first match as a tag team, with there being no teases or allusions to a friendship between the pair before.
The issue that WWE has is that when there is a legitimate tag team in the division, like with The IIconics, a decision is made to inexplicably split the duo up.
