For years, Jim Johnston was WWE’s entrance theme guru. You needed a classic entrance theme, Johnston would get it made. It has been several years since his departure from WWE but now he has opened up about their current themes.
While speaking with Lucha Libre Online, Johnston buried WWE’s entrance themes. In short, he said the songs don’t have anything to do with the characters and storylines. Here is the quote, courtesy of Cageside Seats:
“While I told you before this interview that I don’t do trash talking, but the closest I’ll get to being critical, is that, absolutely, I want to slap Vince upside the head. The music is so bad! These days it’s just sound effects and noises and stuff. It doesn’t have anything to do with the characters and the storylines anymore. That’s the essence of this business… And that’s currently lost. I don’t get it.”
Jim Johnston was officially released by WWE in 2017 after 32 years with the company. For a few years, CFO$ was in charge of creating WWE entrance themes. However, they too have since left the company.
