A new report has revealed that some recently released wrestlers were included in scrapped plans for the debut of the Diamond Mine faction.
This week on NXT, Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust, Hideki Suzuki and Malcolm Bivens revealed that they make up a new group, Diamond Mine. Prior to the stable’s debut, there were plans for a significantly different faction line-up.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported that Arturo Ruas and Marina Shafir were originally involved in Diamond Mine debut plans. Ruas was reportedly informed that these plans had been nixed days before the final line-up appeared on NXT.
It was also noted that, prior to her departure, many within NXT were under the impression that Shafir would join the group at a later date. She was reportedly set to act as the female enforcer of the faction.
Both Ruas and Shafir were released by WWE earlier this week. It has since been clarified that most of the NXT stars let go will have 30 day non-compete clauses.
Maria Shafir was released after 3 years with the company. She has recently commented on her WWE departure.
