AEW Women’s Champion Dr Britt Baker D.M.D has addressed fan criticisms relating to the promotion’s women’s division.
Since the inception of AEW, fans have criticised the presentation of their women’s roster. According to Britt Baker, some fans will never be satisfied with the final product.
Speaking with Sports Grind Entertainment, Baker named some of the key players in AEW’s women’s division. Pointing out the improvements, Baker questioned whether or not fans just don’t want to enjoy the action.
Claiming that some would prefer to watch the world burn, Baker said:
“It’s the quote: ‘Some people just like to watch the world burn.’ There’s some people that are just never going to be satisfied, it doesn’t matter what we do. The match that I had with Thunder Rosa we put everything we had out there. We had the women’s eliminator tournament, we have so much to look forward to.
“We have so many talented females on our roster: myself, Hikaru Shida, Tay Conti, Red Velvet, Jade, Thunder Rosa, Anna Jay. It’s not something you can just turn a blind eye to anymore. We’ve improved so much, we’re putting out great content. So, at some point you have to really look at yourself in the mirror and say: Do you not like the women’s division, or do you just not want yourself to like the women’s division?”
Baker won the AEW Women’s Championship at Double or Nothing in May. The former champion, Hikaru Shida, had defended the gold for over a year prior.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding a dream AEW vs IMPACT match between Baker and IMPACT Knockout’s Champion Deonna Purrazzo. During Purrazzo’s most recent title defence at Against All Odds, Baker’s AEW title win was brought up on commentary.
