AEW Rampage made it’s long awaited debut last night (August 13) in a show that was branded a ‘home run’ by AEW President Tony Khan.
Khan spoke to Sports Illustrated after the show was over, where he said that Rampage belonged to the fans. He said:
“This show belongs to the wrestling fans. Now is the time for more AEW on TNT and TBS. There is only more excitement to come in the weeks ahead. I’ve looked forward to this day for so long, and this was a great debut for Rampage. It’s a totally different format for us, and next week will be a very atypical episode of Rampage.
Next week’s show, as you may be aware, airs from the United Center in Chicago. Khan went on record to say that he believes that the First Dance is going to be a historic television event. Tony said:
“I’m so excited for what is ahead next week. We’re going to give people very special wrestling television. ‘The First Dance’ is going to be a one-time, historic wrestling television event.”
CM Punk took to his Instagram story earlier today to post a tease that could be referencing Darby Allin, as August 20 draws nearer.
