On last week’s episode of AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo shockingly turned on advisor Chavo Guerrero, who had only been part of Andrade’s team for a matter of weeks.
While this is likely part of a wider storyline, the timing of the attack makes sense, as Chavo is about to start filming the second season of “Young Rock”, a show he works as a wrestling coordinator on.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said:
“The reason for the angle on Rampage where Chavo Guerrero was turned on by Andrade and then beaten down by Penta & Fenix which looked like a character blow-off is that Chavo works as the wrestling coordinator for the TV show “Young Rock” and they are filming the second season of the show now. In an interesting note, the showrunner for “Young Rock” is the sister of Nick Khan. When Tony Khan brought in Guerrero for Andrade, and “Young Rock” was renewed , they came up with an agreement where Guerrero would work through All Out and then they would blow off the character. After the filming of season two, Guerrero is expected back to AEW.”
As noted by Meltzer, Chavo is expected back on AEW TV once filming of “Young Rock” is wrapped, so we’ll have to see whether he’s going to be getting his revenge on Andrade.
