More details have come to light regarding WWE being interested in current AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker.
As we’ve already covered, Baker’s boyfriend Adam Cole said on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions that NXT officials made it clear to him while he was there that the company was interested in bringing in Baker, and Fightful Select has now provided a couple more details.
The report notes that WWE/NXT would have made a play for Baker if she was available when her contract came up this year. She instead signed a new deal to stay with AEW long-term.
It’s said there we no “formal conversations” between Baker and WWE, and the company never made an approach to avoid contract tampering.
Britt Baker retained the AEW Women’s World Title over Ruby Soho in the main event of last night’s AEW Dynamite ‘Grand Slam’ in front of over 20,000 fans in attendance at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Also last night, Cole teamed with the Young Bucks against Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus in a match that will air on Friday’s Rampage.
