Former WWE star Mike Bennett (Kanellis) has praised Roman Reigns for the advice he gave to wrestlers on the 205 Live brand.
Before it was moved under the NXT umbrella, 205 Live had an exclusive roster and took place after SmackDown, and Bennett was on that roster for a while.
Speaking on That 90s Wrestling Podcast, Bennett praised Reigns’ efforts as a locker room leader, specifically the fact he would watch 205 Live matches and give the wrestlers his advice afterwards.
Bennett said:
I mean, Roman is the best, he’s the man. That dude would watch our 205 Live matches and help us after our matches, and would give us good critique. He wouldn’t be like, ‘All you guys are doing too much’. No, he would be genuine and be like, ‘Hey, if you did this but if you took a second longer after you did this, think about how the crowd would react’. And you’re like, ‘Oh!’. Genuine critiques to the point where you’re like, ‘Oh, you’re actually watching our matches at 10 o’clock at night when everyone else has left the building. Thank you’. He’s great.”
Bennett and his wife Maria Kanellis were released by WWE in April 2020 and have since become regulars at Ring of Honor.
Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship – which he has now held for over 400 days in his current reign – against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 21.
