Claudio Castagnoli Set To Face Former Champion On AEW Dynamite

Former two-time Ring of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli is set to face former FTW Champion Brian Cage on AEW Dynamite.

On the April 27 episode of AEW Collision, Swerve Strickland defeated Claudio Castagnoli to retain the AEW World Title in the main event.

This marked Swerve’s first title defense since winning the AEW World Championship at AEW Dynasty. It was also Claudio’s first opportunity at the top prize in All Elite Wrestling.

Now, it looks like Castagnoli will face another member of Mogul Embassy in his first bout since the loss.

Ahead of the May 1 edition of AEW Dynamite, the company announced that Claudio Castagnoli will go one-on-one with Brian Cage on tonight’s show.

Following the announcement, Castagnoli took to social media to comment on his showdown with “The Machine.” He wrote:

This will be the second time these two men will meet in an AEW ring after their three-way bout with Nick Jackson in 2023.

Also announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega will make his return in his hometown of Winnipeg and Adam Copeland will defend the TNT Championship against a member of the House of Black.
