NJPW has announced that a STARDOM bout will air during the second night of Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 5, 2022. The competitors for the ‘special matchup’ haven’t been announced, as of writing.
In October 2019, Bushiroad, NJPW’s parent company, purchased STARDOM. The brands have been kept separate mostly since, as airing rights between NJPW and STARDOM were different. STARDOM has a TV deal with NTV, while NJPW is part-owned by TV-Asahi.
Wrestle Kingdom 16 night 2 will be headlined by an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match, with either Shingo Takagi or Kazuchika Okada defending the gold against Will Ospreay.
