Danielson has voiced a desire to return to NJPW on numerous occasions, recently discussing the possibility of a run in this year’s G1 Climax tournament. AEW’s Wheeler Yuta has been announced for this month’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament, fuelling speculation that Danielson could visit Japan for a tour this summer.
Before Danielson signed with AEW in September 2021, WWE was notably in contact with NJPW about a possible partnership, to allow the popular star to compete for the Japanese promotion.
Forbidden Door will air from the United Center in Chicago on June 26.
