There once was a time, under the Vince McMahon WWE regime, where it was believed that WWE would struggle once McMahon was out of the picture, due to his business successes in the past.
Ever since Triple H took over from him however, excitement and buzz around the product has been higher than it has been in years, with WWE almost immediately selling out Survivor Series in November even before the announcement of WarGames for the show.
In January, the first Royal Rumble event of the Triple H era is set to take place from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and the show is already proving to be a success even three months away.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that the current gross revenue and ticket sale record for a Royal Rumble event was when WWE last ran the Alamodome back in 2017. However, next year’s event in the same arena appears to be on course to break that record.
WWE sources have confirmed that there has been over 25,000 tickets sold for the 2023 event, which is a new record for a Royal Rumble when it comes to paid tickets and gross revenue for a first on-sale weekend for the show.
The entirety of the Alamodome has not yet been fully opened up for the show, but additional WWE sources stated that more areas could eventually become available.
