ROH World Champion Chris Jericho has praised Bandido following their match on the September 28 edition of Dynamite.
On his quest to desecrate the legacy of ROH, Jericho notably defended his gold against Bandido, who held the gold prior to Jonathan Gresham.
Many fans and people backstage were impressed by Bandido’s performance, with the luchador reportedly offered an AEW contract right after the match.
Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho admitted that he wasn’t too familiar with Bandido’s work before watching some of the Mexican star’s matches to prepare for their Dynamite bout.
Noting that his goal was to get Bandido an AEW contract with their match, Jericho said:
“I love that match with Bandido, it was just as exciting as my first match against Lance (Storm) was 32 years ago.
“I had never seen any of his work. I knew that he was kind of hot on the scene and was a guy that had a kind of critical acclaim.
“I just wrote down some ideas. My goal was to put this guy over and get this kid a contract, as Booker T used to say, but more importantly to make him look like a main event star.”
Following reports that Bandido had agreed to terms with AEW, Bandido revealed that he hadn’t signed with the promotion, noting that talks were still ongoing.
The independent star also revealed that he had received an offer from WWE.
