A worrying update has emerged regarding a serious injury sustained by AEW star Adam Cole, and how it could potentially impact his career.
Cole made his AEW debut at the September 2021 All Out pay-per-view. Prior to his tenure with AEW, Cole was the longest-reigning NXT Champion of all time.
Cole hasn’t wrestled since AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June, where he challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way match against Jay White, Kazuchika Okada, and Hangman Adam Page.
Cole, who at the time was working through a torn labrum injury, suffered a concussion during the bout.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the concussion may be worse than previously anticipated:
“It’s a concussion, it’s a bad concussion. Real bad concussion. He’ll be back when he’s cleared – it could be tomorrow, and it could be never, you know what I mean?”

To which co-host Bryan Alvarez responded:
“I’ve not really heard anything. He’s doing his Twitch deal every day so from that aspect he’s fine, but I don’t know what the status of being able to travel, work, anything is.”
