GCW owner Brett Lauderdale has addressed the WWE and GCW relationship rumors.
GCW star Joey Janela has caused a lot of speculation as of late after promoting WWE Raw multiple times in the past few weeks, while GCW owner Brett Lauderdale raised eyebrows by saying he wants to use guys like Omos in Game Changer Wrestling.
Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is “something going on” between WWE and GCW as far as a relationship.
Speaking to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Lauderdale addressed the rumors and commented on the potential WWE-GCW relationship.
While not directly confirming the rumors, the GCW owner did promise an announcement on Saturday during the company’s event in Detroit.
He said:
“Of course, we are aware of the speculation and the rumors surrounding GCW right now. We are very excited for the future of GCW, which includes a number of exciting partnerships as well as a game-changing announcement in regards to how people will be able to stream and watch GCW events going forward! We will make our first of many announcements this Saturday during GCW’s event in Detroit, which will air LIVE on FiteTV!”
Joey Janela once again promoted WWE with a tweet hyping tonight’s episode of SmackDown in response to the rumors, writing>
TGIF everyone!! You know why I love Fridays? Because The Road to @wwe Crown Jewel live from wonderful Saudi Arabia will continue with tonight’s SmackDown on FOX!
What will @LoganPaul say before his WWE Championship match vs The Head of The Table? 8pm EST/7pm CST on @FOXTV
Game Changer Wrestling has been rumored to start their own streaming service, but a partnership with WWE could offer a new home in Peacock for content from the promotion.
