An AEW star recently revealed that she approached Tony Khan and specified another female wrestler that she wanted to work with.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio (subscription required) before AEW Full Gear, Baker spoke highly of the interim AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter, saying:
“I’m so incredibly proud of Jamie.
“I mean, I literally hand-picked Jamie.
“I went to Tony Khan and said, ‘Hey, we need this girl,’ because I wrestled her in the UK in a dive bar years ago, and we’ve been friends ever since.”
The match she is referring to was their encounter at Pro Wrestling Eve in March 2019 at their She Slams On Saturdays! event.
Describing her friend’s potential in AEW, Dr Britt Baker DMD went on to say:
“I am Jamie’s #1 fan.
“There’s nobody out there that wants Jamie to win this title more than I do because it is her time.
“This is Jamie Hayter’s era right now, and I get to be along for the ride.”
Baker and Hayter have teamed together on multiple occasions in AEW since Hayter joined the company in 2019.
She was officially signed to AEW in August of 2021 having been unable to appear for much of 2020-2021 due to the pandemic.
