An update has emerged on WWE creative plans for Ronda Rousey, with her opponent for Royal Rumble 2023 reportedly revealed.
The January 28 premium live event is already a highly anticipated show, with the show recently breaking the record for the largest gate for a Royal Rumble event.
The event will be the first Royal Rumble show booked under the Triple H regime, following The Game becoming the Chief Creative Officer in July.
While the event is famous for its 30-person over the top rope battle royal matches, Royal Rumble events often feature high-profile title bouts on the undercards.
WWE has reportedly been planning several bouts, including one for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Per WrestlingNews.co, SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will defend her gold against Raquel Rodriguez at Royal Rumble 2023.
Rodriguez has been presented as a dominant star throughout her main roster run, following her SmackDown debut in April.
Rousey and Rodriguez have faced off in singles action before, with Rodriguez battling Rousey in an open challenge on the May 13 edition of SmackDown, only a few weeks after Rodriguez’ main roster call-up.
WWE recently announced that Rodriquez suffered an arm injury following an attack at the hands of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler before their match on the November 25 edition of SmackDown.
Rousey most recently defended her SmackDown Women’s Title at Survivor Series on November 26, defeating Shotzi in singles action.
Royal Rumble plans for Roman Reigns have also been revealed, which you can read more about right here.
