A main roster WWE star has laid out a challenge to a top NXT champion to defend their title at the Great American Bash Premium Live Event on July 30.
The challenge came following the match between Mustafa Ali and Tyler Bate on this week’s NXT (July 4, taped June 27), two men that have been involved in the North American Title scene recently.
While it was not billed as a number one contender match, the winner would likely believe themselves to be next in line for Wes Lee’s title, and lo and behold, after winning with the 450 Splash, Mustafa Ali made his intentions clear.
When celebrating his victory, Ali got right into the camera and issued the challenge to Lee for a North American Title match at Great American Bash (see below).
As of this writing the challenge has not yet been accepted with no matches made official for the PLE just yet, but given the ongoing angle between Lee and Ali one would expect an announcement very soon.
It’s also not impossible that Bate could be added to make it a three-way, but he’s already lost out in North American Title matches a couple of times recently as well as being beaten by Ali.
While stars such as Ali are flourishing stepping down to NXT from the main roster, it seems as if one tandem on Tuesday nights may be set to go the opposite way following a major high-stakes match on this week’s show.
In a loser leaves NXT match, the Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler) took on the Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) – to find out the full details of what went down in the match, click this link.
Raw’s Judgment Day group is also set to make an appearance in full force on next week’s episode of NXT to confront Trick Williams and NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.
