A former WWE star has credited Bryan Danielson for AEW debut.
During the lead-up to AEW Revolution 2023, Bryan Danielson faced a murderer’s row of opponents ahead of his AEW World Championship Iron Man match against MJF.
On the February 1 edition of AEW Dynamite, Danielson defeated Timothy Thatcher in a first time encounter. This marked Thatcher’s debut for All Elite Wrestling.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Thatcher looked back on his AEW debut and said it only happened because Bryan Danielson wanted the match. He said:
“AEW, that was literally out of the blue. It happened because Bryan Danielson wanted to wrestle me. For me, that was reason enough to fly from Tokyo to Dayton, Ohio for a day and back.”
Timothy Thatcher will be back in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH’s N-1 Victory tournament, which kicks off on August 6.
Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson suffered a broken arm during his AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door main event against Kazuchika Okada. It is unknown when he will be able to make a return.
