AEW President Tony Khan has commented on the possibility of a major streaming deal, revealing his hopes for the future of the promotion’s library.
While AEW has just celebrated its 200th episode of Dynamite, the promotion still has no home for historical archived content in the United States.
There has been a lot of speculation about AEW’s streaming future, with some expecting AEW to launch its own platform like the WWE Network, and others predicting that AEW content will soon be available via another company’s streaming service.
Speaking with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Tony Khan noted that he’d ideally like to land a deal with Warner Bros Discovery to put the AEW library on Max.
Sharing the latest update on a potential AEW streaming deal, Khan said:
“We have all the bones for a really strong streaming platform. It would be a very strong addition to any streaming platform, and my dream is that it all lands on Max.
“It would be tremendous. Right now, AEW All Access is available on Max, which is very cool, and hopefully, that is a step in the right direction, getting our stuff steaming.
“We have a great library. All together, with everything I own, it’s thousands of hours of great wrestling and the AEW catalog has grown so much considering we started this thing from scratch four years ago.
“I believe the streaming service will happen. As to where it is and what platform it is, that’s something that I believe largely will be influenced by Warner Bros.”
AEW already has a good relationship with Warner Bros Discovery, with weekly AEW shows airing on their TBS and TNT networks.
A new report has now indicated that Warner Bros Discovery is interested in carrying WWE and having ‘the entire wrestling market’, which you can read more about right here.
