An AEW star has revealed the origins of their in-ring name.
Since starting his wrestling career, William Morrissey has been known by various in-ring names from Big Cass to Caz XL to W. Morrissey.
Upon signing with All Elite Wrestling last year, Morrissey started to use the name “Big Bill”, which caused plenty of discussions for the creativity or lack thereof behind it.
On the latest episode of “Hey! (EW)”, Big Bill revealed that it was none other than AEW CEO Tony Khan who came up with the name. He stated:
“I was told that a name was suggested for me was Big Bill, and I saw, ‘Ah, I’m not so sure,’ and they said, ‘Tony loves it.’ I said, ‘It’s fantastic.'”
Big Bill has began a partnership with the Mogul Embassy’s Brian Cage since the two were paired in the Blind Eliminator Tournament.
Bill last wrestled in a tag team loss alongside Cage against AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR on the August 5 edition of AEW Collision.
