An update has emerged on Carlito’s WWE return, with WWE’s plans for the former US Champion now revealed following Fastlane.
Carlito made his comeback at the October 7 premium live event, where he teamed with Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar of the LWO to defeat Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits.
While it was previously reported that Carlito had signed with WWE, it was previously unclear what WWE had planned for him following his return.
Per PWInsider, Carlito will officially be wrestling as part of the SmackDown brand moving forward. While not confirmed, this would suggest that his alliance with the LWO will continue.
PWInsider previously reported that WWE had been waiting for a ‘storyline entrance’ for Carlito ahead of his Fastlane return.
It was reported in June that Carlito had cancelled several independent bookings, with the reason being that he had in fact re-signed with WWE.
A previous report indicated that WWE had plans to use Carlito on the July 7 edition of SmackDown, however Carlito’s return was cancelled due to how much the company needed to cram into the show.
This all came after Carlito’s cameo appearance at the May 6 WWE Backlash premium live event in Puerto Rico, with Carlito helping Bad Bunny to defeat Damian Priest as an associate of the LWO.
