2023 G1 Climax winner Tetsuya Naito is set for an upcoming showdown with former stablemate, IWGP World Champion SANADA, at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4, 2024.
Ahead of the show, Naito underwent an operation on his right eye to improve his superior oblique palsy which he has had on and off since 2019.
Naito was discharged from the hospital one day after the operation, and he’s now discussed the operation during an interview with Tokyo Sports.
He said:
I’ve removed the eye patch now, and it looks normal. I had gotten used to the situation where my right eyeball was slightly misaligned… With time, I will get used to this situation, so I think it will get better.
However, following the surgery, Naito has said that he won’t be taking bumps for the next two weeks, noting that he wants to return to the ring as soon as possible and not take too much time off.
He added:
I don’t want to take too much time off, and it’s sad and frustrating not to have my name on the card. I want to get back to wrestling as soon as possible.
