A new report has revealed the real reason why Kazuchika Okada appeared on AEW Dynamite in October 2023.
On the October 25 edition of AEW Dynamite, Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli defeated Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada in a tag team main event.
Then on January 18, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that Okada will be leaving the promotion when his contract expires on January 31.
This has led to many questioning where “The Rainmaker” may land next with WWE and AEW being viewed as his likely destinations.
According to Sports Illustrated, AEW is considered the favorite to land Kazuchika Okada for a few reasons. One of the reasons is his pre-existing relationship with AEW President Tony Khan.
The report notes that Okada’s visit to Dynamite back in October 2023 was, for all intents and purposes, an opportunity to see how the company operated at a live television taping.
This would explain the abrupt nature of the match announcement with no real build to the former 7-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion appearing on the show.
An AEW star has struck up a friendship with Kazuchika Okada ahead of his upcoming free agency, which you can read at this link.
