A new report has revealed a top AEW star has formed a friendship with Kazuchika Okada ahead of his upcoming free agency.
At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Kazuchika Okada defeated Bryan Danielson in a highly praised and regarded 23-minute encounter.
On January 18, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that Okada will be leaving the promotion when his contract expires on January 31. However, he is booked for shows through February 24.
With this shocking announcement, many fans have been wondering and speculating which company will land the former seven-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
Sports Illustrated provided an update, noting that AEW is the favorite to land Okada and one of the reasons for that is the friendship between “The Rainmaker” and Bryan Danielson.
The report notes that the on-screen rivals have struck a friendship in which Danielson has gained the trust of Okada.
The two men have faced each other on two occasions now with the first being at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 and the aforementioned Wrestle Kingdom 18 bout.
WrestleTalk will provide further updates on Kazuchika Okada’s free agency status when they become available.
