An update has emerged following the news that Kosha Irby, formerly of WWE, has been appointed as the COO of All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Irby was previously WWE’s Regional Director of Live Events.
According to Fightful Select, even though AEW only made the announcement today (March 26), Irby has actually been with the company since January and has already been making changes.
Irby essentially took over the role of Rafael Morffi when it comes to booking venues, and there were already venues booked into March and the company didn’t change those, so Irby’s impact hadn’t really been seen yet.
However, in mid to late February, that’s when Irby started working on bookings for the future, and it is believed that his approach is different to that of Morffi’s.
Specifically, he’s said to have brought a new and more efficient approach to logistics and “streamlining” the locations that events are being held.
People in AEW are said to be “excited” about the new direction, and there’s been “unanimous praise” for Irby.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
