Several WWE stars’ reaction to Jinder Mahal’s release following his recent Twitter controversy with AEW’s Tony Khan has been revealed.
Five WWE stars were released from their contracts last night (April 19), with the most notable being former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
Jinder had not featured prominently on WWE television since his World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins back in January.
Prior to the match, Jinder found himself the centre of a social media controversy after AEW’s Tony Khan took shots at his win/loss record prior to getting the shot.
Following his release, social media was ablaze with fans referencing the situation, and pitched for Mahal to show up on AEW Dynamite for a match against Hook once his non-compete clause expires.
Per PWInsider Elite (via WrestlePurists), those jokes weren’t exclusive to social media, as the running joke among a few talents in WWE is that Jinder will be feuding with Tony Khan on Dynamite this Summer.
Alongside Jinder, Xia Li, Xyon Quinn, Veer and Sanga were also released from the company yesterday.
The five names released are the only names released from the company for now.
