8. Undertaker vs. Batista – Hell in a Cell (2007)
Following their terrific rivalry over the World Heavyweight Championship throughout 2007, Undertaker and Batista clashed at Survivor Series inside Hell in a Cell.
While it came as a surprise at the time, Undertaker and Batista had tremendous chemistry with one another. Their matches at WrestleMania 23 and Backlash were great, and their match at Cyber Sunday was a fun battle with Batista finally picking up a win over the ‘Deadman.’ Their rivalry had to be put to rest in the ultimate feud-ending match, Hell in a Cell.
Batista and Undertaker had a great back-and-forth fight for 20 minutes before the returning Edge emerged to screw the Undertaker out of the World title. Undertaker had Batista beaten when Edge – who had been dressed as a cameraman – pulled the referee out of the ring. Edge then attacked ‘Taker with a chair and placed Batista on top of the ‘Phenom’ as the ref counted three.
The match does not come close to the greatest Hell in a Cell match in history, but it was able to hold its own as a good main event and a way to cap off Undertaker and Batista’s year-long rivalry. Edge’s interference would go on to set up his own rivalry with the Undertaker in 2008 where his run-in here was routinely referenced.
