9. Orton Flips The Bird – March 2015
In March 2015, the ‘Authority’ stable that was headed by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, and included Randy Orton and Seth Rollins – following Rollins’ split from the Shield – was essentially controlling WWE.
On the March 9, 2015 edition of Raw and despite tensions between the two, Orton and Rollins were paired together to take on Roman Reigns in a 2-on-1 handicap match.
Orton had an opening to illegally gain an advantage on Reigns with the referee distracted and J&J Security (Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble) were encouraging him to take the chance.
The ‘Viper’ grew frustrated with the pair, and after he struck Noble, Rollins sent J&J packing. Following an exchange with Roman, the ‘Architect’ attempted to tag the ‘Apex Predator’ into the match.
Orton looked up for the ‘hot tag’ before the final moment, when he pulled away staring straight into the ‘Architect’s eyes, before showing him two middle fingers and allowing Reigns to capitalize with a spear.
As you will have noticed in the clip, WWE did their very best to mask Orton’s gesture.
