10 Undertaker Matches You MUST See

3. The Undertaker vs. Triple H – WrestleMania XXVII

WrestleMania XXVII was a turning point for The Undertaker. He had decisively beaten his recent WrestleMania opponents but Triple H presented a challenge he had not anticipated. Not many people thought Triple H would win this match going in but things changed when we reached the climax of the match.

Triple H was brutal and took Undertaker closer to the limit than anyone thought possible. Chairshots were abundant and finally, Triple H hit a Tombstone of his own and the world froze. This was as close to the streak ending as we had come at this point but it was not to be. Undertaker’s streak would not be taken from him that easily and this match put the next year of Undertaker’s storyline in motion.

2. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels – Badd Blood 1997

If you want to look at a WWE match you could consider perfect, this one gets pretty close. The first Hell in a Cell match had an incredible introduction with two of the best performers in WWE history. The story of this match was simple. Michaels was trying to escape this inescapable cage to get away from the monstrous Undertaker.

The Heartbreak Kid was unable to run for long and Undertaker beat him mercilessly. Ultimately, this incredible match culminated with the iconic debut of Kane. This not only allowed Michaels to come away with the win but it set up The Undertaker’s next rivalry. In terms of storytelling, it doesn’t get much better than this.

1. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania XXV

It had to be this match, didn’t it? At WrestleMania XXV, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels had a match that defined a generation of WWE fans. Many fans will go to their graves swearing that this is the best wrestling match of all time. While that is a matter of opinion, it does speak to the impact this match has had.

WrestleMania XXV was otherwise a subpar show but this match more than made up for it. For a half-hour, these two exchanged big moves on each other as the Houston crowd went wild. In the end, the match culminated with a perfect spot. As Michaels went for his signature moonsault, Undertaker caught him in a perfect position for the Tombstone. This was all she wrote for Michaels as Undertaker put a cap on his greatest WrestleMania performance.
