James Drake, Joseph Conners & Drew Gulak vs. Flash Morgan, Mustafa Ali & Cedric Alexander
WrestleMania opponents Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander teamed together along with British wrestler Flash Morgan. Their opponents were England’s Joseph Conners and James Drake, who teamed with WWE‘s submission specialist, Drew Gulak.
The heels dominated early, particularly Gulak. They isolated Flash and each went to work wearing down the babyface. He eventually escaped the corner and tagged in Ali. After a few spots from the former challenger, the match broke down in typical WWE six-man fashion. Each side traded big moves, and it ended with every member of the match down in the ring.
When the action picked back up again, Gulak and Alexander were the centers of attention. Alexander went to hit a handspring Enziguri, but Gulak countered into an Ankle Lock. Cedric broke free and tagged in Mustafa, who got the better of Drew, hitting an 054 for the win.
Result: Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander & Flash Morgan def. Joseph Conners, James Drake & Drew Gulak
I would have liked to see more of the UK talents in this match. They really didn’t get much to do, as the match mostly centered around the already established Gulak. No British man factored into the finish, either. Instead, Alexander and Ali took down Drew Gulak. Regardless, this was a fun main event where the babyfaces prevailed to send the crowd “home” (to the dark match) happy. One has to wonder why Gulak was chosen as the third heel though. Surely with Buddy Murphy getting a title shot in two weeks, they could have used this match to build his feud with Cedric.
