4 Concepts WWE Should Take From The MCU

1. Important Secondary Characters

What if Marvel Cinematic Universe characters were on wrestling rosters? They could fairly easily be divided up into wrestling’s three classes character: main eventer, mid-carder, or under-carder. Your main eventers would include Iron Man, Captain America, Dr. Strange, Thor and anyone else The Mouse gives their own movie. Then, you move into the mid-card with Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and others who appear in multiple movies across franchises but don’t have their own. Finally, the lower card fills out with characters like Wong, Pepper Potts, Aunt May and all of the other characters that play their part of the story but are far from the overall focus of the universe.

In WWE, being in the mid-card means that someone may have given some thought to your character and their motivations in any given situation. You are a relevant character, but not a consistent one. Your character is not given enough time to connect with fans and is not considered relevant to the show’s storylines.

If you’re a WWE lower card performer, you don’t likely have any relevance to the overall story being told. You likely blend into the background and exist for comedy angles and jobbing. Where the Marvel low carders are very relevant within their own place in the universe, WWE’s couldn’t be less impactful.

For some reason, WWE is always afraid to give their lower card performers any semblance of a meaningful character for fear that they might develop their own personality and have to be put back into their places. I’m looking at you, Zack Ryder.

There is no reason that WWE shouldn’t be able to give life to their mid and low-carders in a way that makes them far more valuable to the company than they are now.
