5 Potential 2022 Men’s & Women’s Royal Rumble Match Winners

Women’s #2 – Bianca Belair

They definitely appeared to leave Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair’s rivalry open ended for a reason.

The EST was never once defeated cleanly by The Man, with her only pinfall loss to Becky being via rollup with Becky using the ropes for leverage. Bianca has spent the time since the Lynch feud staying on TV, staying relevant and most importantly, staying over.

Becky’s 26 second victory to capture Bianca’s SmackDown Women’s Championship was very polarising and was met by a lot of backlash from fans. It was reportedly done to help Bianca in the long run, and that story would nicely culminate in Bianca winning the Royal Rumble and finally conquering Lynch at the show of shows.

Bianca would easily be number one on my list, if it wasn’t for one giant glaring elephant in the room.

We have been here before. Bianca Belair stood tall at the end of the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Sure, back-to-back Rumble wins have happened in the past, but the fact that she won it just 12 months earlier is the one thing holding me back from having her as the absolute favorite.

Men’s #2 – Drew McIntyre

When I first planned out this list, I had Drew McIntyre in third for the same “they won’t do back-to-back Rumble wins” reason as Bianca Belair. Had a nice little segue planned and everything. Then I remembered, Edge won the 2021 Rumble. The Thunderdome era is one big blur.

Edge’s victory last year bumps McIntyre up a place in my list, as he no longer has that hanging over him. McIntyre has currently hit that stage that every top babyface over the last five years hits. He is feuding with Baron Corbin.

Drew should easily dispatch of both Corbin and his cackling cohort Madcap Moss by the time WrestleMania season hits, which would set him up nicely as a potential WrestleMania foe for the Tribal Chief.

McIntyre is actively the only full-time member of the WWE main roster who seems like they are being built for an eventual encounter with Roman Reigns and winning the Royal Rumble could easily get him there.
