5. Jade Cargill Gets An Easy Win And Moves Onto A Real Challenge
Let’s start with one not related to the actual Blood & Guts match, but rather another match on tonight’s show.
Jade Cargill will defend her TBS Championship against Leila Grey, who has a 0-15 win/loss record in AEW, compared to Cargill’s 33-0 record (with the exception of a Casino Battle Royale she was in and didn’t win).
Hmm… I wonder who’s going to win.
AEW has done a great job of building up Cargill, but not a great job of building up other women who could believably beat her, so we keep ending up with pointless matches that she’s obviously going to win.
I don’t necessarily mean squash matches like tonight’s either, but I mean matches like the one at Double Or Nothing against Anna Jay. It had a very rushed build and no-one believed Anna Jay had any chance whatsoever of beating Jade Cargill.
It’s about time Cargill gets some actual competition, and the two obvious choices right now are Athena and the rejuvenated Kris Statlander.
Hopefully Cargill does get the easy win tonight, but then focus shifts to having an actual build to a match that people actually think she might have a chance of losing.
