WWE SummerSlam remains one of the biggest shows of the year for the company with a two-night spectacle that will take place this year from Minneapolis on August 1 and 2.
Over the two-nights, there will be several different title matches that could see a change to the landscape by new champions being crowned.
From former champions regaining titles to first time ever titleholders getting a crowning achievement, SummerSlam 2026 could be an unforgettable event if there are some noteworthy title changes through the premium live event.
Here are seven potential title changes at WWE SummerSlam 2026.
7. IYO SKY Captures WWE Women’s World Championship From Liv Morgan

At WWE Night of Champions 2026, IYO SKY defeated Liv Morgan to win the Queen of the Ring Finals.
Thanks to this win, SKY issued the challenge to Morgan to face her for the WWE Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2026.
While Liv is among the most popular stars on the WWE roster today, she has not been defending her title much despite holding it for two months at the time of this writing.
With this being her only defense of the reign so far, it might feel like it’s too soon to change the title, but IYO might be better suited to be a fighting world champion in a way that Morgan’s character doesn’t seem fit for.
6. Lyra Valkyria Beats Sol Ruca For WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

On the June 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, Paige and Brie Bella defeated Bayley and Lyra Valkyria to retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Post match, Valkyria snapped from frustration and attacked Bayley in a vicious assault on her former friend.
With Bayley out of her way, fans could see Valkyria refocus on the title that she was responsible for putting on the map.
Valkyria beating Sol Ruca to regain the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2026 would solidify her new heel persona moving forward.
5. Chad Gable Wins WWE Intercontinental Championship Against Penta

After being unmasked as The Original El Grande Americano at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, Chad Gable has been on a redemption tour trying to make amends to all those he did wrong along the way.
The former Olympian has apologized to all of the luchadors on the WWE roster that he had disrespected, including Penta.
After coming to the aid of the luchadors against Ethan Page and Rusev, it would be fitting if Gable finds himself in the WWE Intercontinental Championship picture.
With WWE SummerSlam 2026 taking place in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, it would be a logical move for the company to have Gable defeat Penta to win the IC Title.
4. Fatal Influence Take WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships From Brie Bella & Paige

On the April 24 WWE SmackDown After WrestleMania, Fatal Influence made their main roster debut by attacking various stars in the women’s division.
Among the names that Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid laid out on their first night on the blue brand were Paige and Brie Bella.
On the July 3 edition of SmackDown, Reid picked up a win over Bella in singles competition. Later, it was announced that Fatal Influence will challenge Paige and Brie on the July 18 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
If they do not get the job at Madison Square Garden, Fatal Influence could get their revenge by beating Paige and Brie to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam 2026.
3. Jacy Jayne Brings WWE Women’s Championship To Fatal Influence Against Rhea Ripley

On their first night on Friday Night SmackDown, Jacy Jayne faced Rhea Ripley in a singles match that ended in a disqualification thanks to outside interference from Fatal Influence.
At WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Ripley defeated Jade Cargill to retain the WWE Women’s Championship. During the course of the bout, Rhea suffered a knee injury that may need her to take some more time off.
Considering her current rise up the ranks, Jayne could step up as the next challenger to face Ripley for her title.
With Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley by her side, Jacy Jayne feels like she has everything it takes to be the one to dethrone Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2026.
2. Seth Rollins Dethrones Roman Reigns For World Heavyweight Championship

Ever since making his return from a serious shoulder injury at the start of 2026, Seth Rollins has made it clear that he had his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship that he never lost the year prior.
Then on the June 29 edition of WWE Raw, Rollins confronted World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns to challenge him for the title.
After some convincing from Rollins, Reigns accepted the challenge, realizing that this may be his final chance to beat his former Shield brethren in a big time match.
While it feels like Reigns will finally avenge all of his losses, Rollins could just be his “kryptonite” and once again beat “The OTC” to win the title at WWE SummerSlam 2026.
1. CM Punk Defeats Sami Zayn & Cody Rhodes To Win Undisputed WWE Championship

At WWE Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
After a win over Jey Uso on the July 3 edition of SmackDown, Rhodes will now get a rematch against Zayn for the title on the July 6 WWE Raw.
With this week’s show taking place from his hometown of Chicago, many fans expect CM Punk to make his return for the first time since the WWE Raw After WrestleMania 42.
Whether it be coming out after the match or interfering in the bout itself, Punk could set the stage for another major triple threat coming up at WWE SummerSlam 2026 with Cody and Sami in Minnesota.
