WWE/FIFA
A WWE star has laid the blame on El Grande Americano for Mexico exiting the FIFA World Cup on Sunday, July 5.
In what was incident-packed Round of 16 clash, Mexico hosted England at the Azteca last night, with a Quarterfinal match with Norway up for grabs on Saturday, July 11.
After conceding two Jude Bellingham goals in quick succession, Mexico got one back through Julian QuiΓ±ones before half time – a goal that was celebrated gleefully by WWE’s El Grande Americano, who was in attendance alongside his girlfriend Andrea Bazarte.
Americano was also shown on the live television feed of the game, with footage of his appearance being shared across social media.
Unfortunately for Americano and the rest of the Mexican fans in attendance, they failed to capitalize on England’s Jarrel Quansah being sent off after the break, and ultimately crashed out of the tournament at the hands of the Three Lions.
One of many WWE stars to react to Mexico’s World Cup exit was Angel Garza, who, as fans of AAA will know, is currently locked in a feud with El Grande Americano as a part of the reformed Los Perros Del Mal faction.
It is perhaps no surprise then, that Angel took to Twitter to lay the blame for Mexico’s defeat at the feet of Americano.
Sharing a picture of Americano’s face being shown on the live TV feed when the score was 3-2 England, Angel wrote:
Keep inviting π© and we’ll keep losing β¦ you’re gonna pay for it next week
(Translated from Spanish to English with Grok)
While he has not responded to Angel’s threat, Americano did take to Instagram after Mexico’s loss, where he praised the team and fans.
Sharing a photo of himself at the game, looking dejected, Americano wrote:
This photo says it all
We deserved it. We fought with everything and never gave up, but unfortunately sometimes football is like that.
But let’s feel proud. Proud of our team, our country and our culture. Because with everything we have in Mexico, we’ve won a long time ago. Because what we have can’t be learned and won’t be won as a prize.
Let’s be proud, my people π²π½
Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano Transformation: One Year Later

The July 7, 2025 episode of WWE Raw was the day that Ludwig Kaiser and Chad Gable’s careers changed forever.
Sidelined due to a torn rotator cuff, Gable forfeited the El Grande Americano character to Ludwig Kaiser, someone who, had spent much of that year without creative direction.
While it began as a joke, Kaiser made the Americano character his own, so much so that the people of Mexico thoroughly embraced him, and eventually rejected Gable when he returned in January of this year as “Original” El Grande Americano.
The Mask vs. Mask match between the two at AAA Noche de Los Grandes not only cemented Kaiser as the one and only El Grande Americano, but likely guaranteed that there is now absolutely no way he can ever revert back to his maskless former self.
While there will always be those that like to remind everyone he’s actually German, all that counts is the opinion of the Mexican people, and the response he receives each and every Friday on AAA TV is enough proof that he has truly been embraced as one of their own.
